Workplace In Our eyes
Advices to business proprietors:
Head-hunting plays an important role in enterprise. When the enterprises encounter difficulties during the time of implementing development plan or urgent task, they often need our (unknown head-hunting consultants) helps. We are a head-hunting company with more than 10 years’ development, and are familiar with enterprises of different types and talents from different industries and sectors. Talent recruitment has always been a big problem for enterprises. Here, I would like to share with you my experience about talent recruitment in the past 10 years.
To know a person, you need to pay attention to three aspects: morality, quality and capability. These three show you a person from inside to outside.
Morality represents one’s heart. A person will not behave well if he hasn’t a good heart. Just like a tree which will not become strong and tall if it doesn’t stand upright. I ever met a candidate who was a vice marketing manager in a brand company. He had strong experience and broad knowledge in brand operation, and was well-spoken. But when you looked at his eyes and face, you would feel that he was not a well-behaved person. Upon my investigation, I found that though his had good working capability, he was not a popular person in his boss’s and colleagues’ eyes. I believe even if such person is employed, his employment term will be short.
Second, comprehensive quality. A business proprietor ever told me that if you don’t use the knowledge you learn, your knowledge will be sick. We call it a fool. He is right. The traditional education in China is to enable a person to master knowledge within a short time. The so-called “useful knowledge” is only reflected by exam scores, but not by practice. A person with high quality not only has a wealth of learning, but also knows how to conclude his theory and views based on the things he learned, and explicitly express these theory and views. Then we need to test his action competence. Any achievement is made by act. If a person has weak action competence and leaves other people an impression of incapability, we can judge that he is not good at work. Finally, we can judge him from his working tempo. A person with quick tempo has many friends, but their fellowships are superficial. However, a person with slow tempo has a few friends, but their fellowships are deep. A real strong person should have a balanced tempo. He can arouse other people’s passions and let other people fight for him. At the same time, he is easy to attract other people so that people are willing to make friend with him. When he is silent, he is willing to listen to and accept your opinions, laying a good cooperative foundation through communication.
Third, working capability. Working capability is easy to be judged. It is shown at work based on your morality and comprehensive quality and is divided into two parts: working experience and working performance. Many HR departments hire people based on this principle.
A good staff will never have a chance to show his capability if he doesn’t have a good boss or works in a bad company. It is a big concern for many professional managers that they enter a wrong company, fail to be provided a development space or receive low income. Enterprises should be clear what people they really want. The best person is not the right person. We have seen many times that enterprise hires a person whose condition is far beyond the requirements it asks for, thus, resulting in talent outflow and waste. All we want is a specialized person but versatile person. Just like Zhuge Liang would never have Guan Yu’s wushu skills and Zhang Fei would never have Zhuge Liang’s stratagem. All you need to do is to choose a right person, so don’t ask too much.
